An Inspiring Short Interview with Dumb Little Blogger
Starting a blog or a business online that aimed for success on it, is not an easy stuff to do. But learning from those failures you’ve experienced is an advantage to reach your success.
Recently, I did a chat interview with one of the outstanding young blogger and internet entrepreneur these days. He consider himself as the dumb little blogger where he now make money online from his blog.
Let’s go for his inspiring stories and let’s learn from him.
Tell us about your short bio.
Well… I am Vishal Sanjay a 14 year old blogger and internet marketer. I currently own only one blog which is growing rapidly and I’m working hard to make it popular. My aim is to generate enough passive income to make a living before leave college. I first heard that you could make money blogging 2 years and started my first blog 1 year ago.
After plenty of failures for the first six months and after loosing all of my money I didn’t have any resources to run my blogs, so I started Dumb Little Blogger on Blogspot and after four months of hard work I made enough money to shift to my own host.
What motivates you to do blogging?
From the past five years I always looked for ways to make money, always seeking for new business opportunities, where I read business magazines and stuff, but I couldn’t start my own business because I was still very young.
But blogging is something which anyone could do and had very less startup and operating expenses, so that was one reason why I chose blogging, but after I studied more into it and read about famous bloggers I got addicted to it.
Where you get the name for your blog?
Well its not very clear yet, I don’t exactly know how I stumbled across this idea. When me and a friend were debating on different domain ideas, when I just got the idea about Dumb Little Man and on the other minute i had the idea of Dumb Little Blogger. I was pretty fortunate to get such a name which improved our brand quality.
What is your blog about?
Well my blog mainly is about making money online and I cover anything and everything on that topic which mostly includes internet marketing, blogging tips, affiliate marketing and social media.
Why you chose this niche?
Well most bloggers believe that you must blog about your passion in order for it to be profitable, but in my case it was never like that, I chose this niche only because it seemed profitable and I knew nothing about this niche when I started, but slowly after a few days and months this niche became my passion.
I know this is pretty strange, but I believe that each person should try out new things and match with what suits him best.
Is there someone helped you launched your first blog?
Well I was helped by a friend of mine who helped me install and run wordpress, but for Dumb Little Blogger I did it all on my own. I have received plenty of help from my parents initially for my first blog, but they didn’t encourage such activities of mine when my marks deteriorated.
On the actual side I did everything on my own and faced the challenges alone thats something that makes me really proud and has made me pretty strong.
Why did you switch to wordpress?
Well like everyone else even I wanted to kick-start my blog formally with WordPress as it is much more powerful and efficient than blogger. I had to face many problems after shifting too, but now I’m pretty secure with it.
What benefit that your users can get from your blog?
Well my users get a hell lot of resources for trimming up their career online, I give them more than just copied content. I make sure that even if I just rewrite an existing article I make sure I add an extra resource or link for them to benefit.
Most of my readers have benefited from my blog and thats why I keep recommending in most of my articles that you don’t have to be entirely different, but just write in a different manner.
Can you share to us how and what did you do?
My readership has grown since the time I started this blog, but since the time I started to use WordPress my readership increases by 50% to 60% each month.
Well initially I didn’t have top notch content, but my promotional methods were enough to gain traffic, but when I started to write good content my promotional methods are being served with great credit due to return visits, bookmarking and links.
How did you monetized your blog?
From the beginning I have used affiliate networks to monetize my site, even though I do not generate more than 3 sales in a month, I trust it for future growth. From the past one month I have made 2 direct ad sales which pushed my bottom lines for the particular month, so I completely depend on these methods for monetization and I’m also planning to launch a premium product to increase revenue.
How to be a good blogger?
Well a good blogger is he who puts certain amount of time strictly for the sake of his blog, he plans investments and time well and constantly updates his blog. A good blogger also rewards his readers and replies to all comments, accepts guest posts and answers questions through mails.
Don’t you think that your methods are unethical and spammy?
Spammy? that’s not really it, but I cannot call it unethical because my techniques haven’t hurt anyone. I stand up for my methods because in today’s world turning your blog into a successful business is pretty tough and even the best blogs won’t stand chance to grow big in the blogosphere.
Thats why a bit of spamming is essential for growth, the place I stand today isn’t a great achievement, but a few months ago even this sounded impossible, without these methods that is. But sometimes I don’t call it spamming techniques.
What are your tips to in promoting one’s blog?
Well I stick to that networking with others, blog commenting, social bookmarking and forum marketing is the best, but the plan changes according to ones niche. You can use untapped methods such as video marketing if you have plenty of tutorials to write, but the basic principle for all blogs in all niches remains good content and fair SEO.
Where you often gather traffic to your blog?
As soon as I publish a blog post I firstly share it friends and fellow bloggers on Facebook on my personal profile and on my fan page, that brings in a lot of interactions and discussions and after that I submit those articles to social sites and ask other bloggers I know to rate it and this does bring in a base for the post to go viral.
After this I drive constant traffic through blog commenting and forum posting which usually brings in a hell lot of targeted visitors and thats the most profitable source of traffic. This generates a few extra Diggs, retweets and stumbles and helps me successfully trigger a viral chain. This method usually fails initially but has constant success on later periods like I am having now.
Is it necessary for a blogger to invest money for the benefit for his/her blog?
Once you start generating income from your blog its recommended that you opt towards paid advertising methods for ongoing success and growth, but more than the investment the type and the way you bring in visitors from those investments matter the most. I’d advice you to do a detailed study on each advertising method before spending on that.
My words.
That’s it. Thanks for spending your time for this useful interview.
Now, what can you say about dumb little blogger’s advice and experiences?
